Activities  and leisure options are extensive! All of them can
be enjoyed against the dramatic natural backdrops around . But also
those who are not so eager to engage in the many active and passive pursuits available will enjoy the peace and tranquility, the flora and
fauna and the ever changing Irish skies.

A lake is in front of the house, just a few minutes to walk.
Angling and swimming is possible in a number of  lakes in the area.
Boats can be hired! You'll also find quiet picnic areas in scenic locations on many of these lakes..

Of course, the best way to take in this landscape is by walking,
hiking and cycling at your leisure! Popular walking routes are
described in a number of published books. Less known
trails - like the "Famine Road" - start near the House and lead
on and around Mullagh More and the neighbouring mountains.

The Burren Green Roads criss-cross the landscape with wide scenic routes to enable cattle to be driven from A to B. Although otherwise obsolete, they are priceless arteries for walkers.
Mountain hikers and climbers will find a number of challenging
routes closeby.  Cyclists enjoy the many small and nearly traffic free
lanes around.

The Burren offer an abundant diversity of flowers and plants, never planted by man. Many of these are botanists delight. Among the most exotic and unexpected is the Mountain Aven, whose main habitat is northern Scandinavia and the Spring Gentian, whose natural home is in the slopes of the Alps. A near neighbour is the Maidenhair Fern, a stranger from the Mediterranean cosily nurtured in the sparse damp soil in the warm shelter of the Fissures.
